Children’s Day in Bangalore, India
As Hemmersbach Kid’s Family we aim to improve the quality of life for children which means sometimes taking care of very basic needs like food, facilities such as a bed and of course education.
However, what would a child’s life be without occasional play, laughter and fun? So we decided to organise a very special day for 50 children of the Elizabeth Trust in Bangalore. We reflected upon what we enjoyed as kids or what a big family celebration here might look like. With our hearts and minds filled with these memories, we wanted the same for these kids. We took them to Cubbon Park, which offered a beautiful venue with green grass and lush trees and prepared what looked like a huge birthday party.
All the children and our colleagues from the Bangalore office played badminton, football and Frisbee. We did teambuilding exercises together with hula-hoops and a tug of peaceful war, had sack and egg-and-spoon races and some deep-sea fishing. Also making huge soap bubbles and having the kids watch a puppet artist were some of the activities.
And when everybody was hungry we had pizza and, as can be expected of any decent kids’ party, sweets for everyone! We had a blast and the party even continued on the bus ride back to the orphanage with everybody singing and dancing along the way home.
