Tutoring centre
We set up a learning center crafted out of a shipping container at Ramamurthy Nagar Slum in Bangalore in 2019. Our school with educators, education aids cater to underprivileged children that live in the adjacent community of over 350 households that consist of makeshift shelters with no access to potable water or sanitation. At least 70 children have been attending classes regularly. Many of the children studying at this center are first-generation learners.
While India assures free education to its children, the rates of dropouts and enrolment are poor owing to a variety of reasons. The center stays open every evening between 4 and 8 pm to not only work as a tuition center for the children, but as a resource center that serves them a hot snack. Between 2023 and 2024, we have also begun screening a child friendly movie weekly, and celebration of birthdays and festivals in a secular manner to celebrate childhood.

The school also doubles up as a resource center from where we have been able to involve community members to distribute items in the adjacent community that also faces similar challenges. During the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, we supported the families around our center with the supply of ration. The breadwinners of the community were unable to secure work owing to which our kitchen was preparing lunch meals every day during the third phase of the outbreak of the Coronavirus in India.
Today, we have a system of distributing clothes and essentials for children and adults with the help of some of our friends from our corporate office.
